Equip for Equality's Senior Counsel Karen Ward conducted a training seminar on the "Americans with Disabilities Act: Title I Overview" for approximately 30 Chicago employers June 28 at City Hall in conjunction with Mayor Daley's 2nd Annual Employment Fair for People with Disabilities, held 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., July 18, at Navy Pier. John Coburn, Manager of EFE's Protection and Advocacy for Beneficiaries of Social Security (PABSS) project, led a training seminar the day of the Fair on "Using Your Ticket to Work."
According to Kurt Kausch, Public Information Officer for the Mayor's Office for People with Disabilities, this year's event drew more than 800 job seekers with disabilities, which was greatly expanded from last year's inaugural event.
On the same day, the 6th Annual AccessChicago - the Midwest's largest exposition of products and services targeting people with disabilities, their families and friends - attracted more than 3,000 to the Pier. About 30 exhibitors showcased their products and services to the diverse audience. EFE's Training Institute on Disability Rights staffed a booth to disseminate information. Athletic exhibitions and musical entertainment by people with disabilities augmented the activities. =
