+01: Choate Developmental Center: How an archaic system results in tragic consequences for people with disabilities.
On February 25, Equip for Equality called on the State to close the non-forensic units of the Choate Developmental Center, located in Anna, IL, and released a report detailing the Abuse Investigation Unit?s extensive investigation into the institution's mistreatment of people with developmental disabilities. View the press release and full report.
+02: Improve Public Transportation Options in Your Community.
Regardless of where you live, are you wondering how you can improve public transportation options in your community? Equip for Equality's Transportation Advocate, Kevin Irvine, has created a page with ideas and resources that can help! Statistically, 25% of the U.S. population lives in rural areas, but only 6% of federal transit dollars are allocated to serve them. Communities that organize for government public-transportation funds increase their chances of creating or expanding their transportation services.
+03: Our Grievance Procedure Available in English and Spanish.
Equip for Equality provides its clients or other individuals and their representatives who seek direct services the means to file grievances through its grievance procedure. Information is available in English and in Spanish.
