Court Grants Preliminary Approval to Modified Proposed Consent Decree
A federal judge granted preliminary approval to a Modified Proposed Consent Decree on May 27, 2010. This Consent Decree is an agreement between the state of Illinois and the attorneys representing the class of persons residing in IMDs and it will, if finally approved, give people with mental illness an opportunity, if they choose, to move out of nursing homes and into community settings. The next step in the process is a fairness hearing, scheduled for September 7, 2010. Further details about this case can be found in the Fact Sheet as well as in the Notice Plan issued by the Court.
