General Assistive Technology Resources

Illinois Assistive Technology Project. IATP is a state-wide non-profit agency with the mission of breaking down barriers that prevent people with disabilities from accessing assistive technology in education, work, play, and the community. IATP provides information and assistance, an AT device loan program, a low interest cash loan program, and AT trainings.

Infinitec. Infinitec helps people with disabilities find and get access to technology services, training, assistive equipment, information, and specialists. Serves the counties of Cook, DuPage, Lake and Kane in Illinois.

United Cerebral Palsy Association. UCP is a national organization dedicated to the inclusion of persons with disabilities in all aspects of society. The UCP website contains a wealth of information on disability-related issues, including assistive technology.

Medicaid and Medicare

Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. CMS is a federal agency within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services that is responsible for the Medicare and Medicaid programs.

Special Education

Job Accommodation Network (JAN). JAN provides information on accommodations in educational settings.

Computer Banc. Computer Banc is a non-profit organization based in Springfield, Illinois that gives away refurbished computers for children with learning challenges who come from homes with limited income. Two trips to Springfield may be required to complete the orientation.

Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment

Illinois Department of Human Services - Division of Rehabilitation Services (DRS). DRS is a state agency that provides vocational rehabilitation services to people with disabilities in Illinois.

Job Accommodation Network (JAN). This network is an excellent resource for information about reasonable job accommodations and the employability of people with functional limitations.
