Commuter Train Travel & People with Disabilities

The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) is a civil rights law and does not require that public transportation be provided in every community where people live. However, if commuter rail service is provided, it must comply with ADA requirements for accessibility for people with disabilities. The ADA covers rail vehicles, transportation facilities (rail stations, etc.), and rail service.
