ADA Paratransit in the Real World: Your Eligibility, Your Rights & Your Reality!
This workshop will cover the legal requirements for "origin to destination" paratransit service under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), including eligibility issues (applications, recertification and "functional assessments"). NOTE: This is an "interactive" workshop and participants are urged to bring copies of their Paratransit Eligibility applications, doctor's statements, and ADA Paratransit Certification letters from RTA (the Regional Transportation Authority). All information shared by participants will be kept confidential.
After coming to this workshop, you'll be able to:
- Determine if someone is eligible for (can get) Americans with Disabilities Act paratransit (door to door transportation) service
- Explain how your disability affects your ability to use the mainline bus or rail service
- Discuss the ADA requirements for paratransit service ("next day service," "on time pickups," etc.)
- File a complaint if you have any problem related to transportation.
Access to Buses, Trains, Vans & Taxicabs: Transportation & the ADA
This workshop will cover the legal requirements for a variety of types of transportation under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), with an emphasis on public transportation. After coming to this workshop, you'll be able to:
- Discuss some of the ADA requirements for public transportation (accessible fixed route buses, rapid rail, commuter rail, etc.)
- State when and how bus service must be accessible for people with disabilities
- State when taxicab companies or hotels have to buy or provide accessible cars and vans
- File a complaint if you have a problem getting the transportation you need
