Does My Vote Make a Difference?
Yes!
- Politicians pay attention to who does and does not vote. For example, a very high percentage of senior citizens vote at each election, so elected officials pay greater attention to issues such as modifications in social security legislation-which is an important issue to aging or older Americans. Because people with disabilities don't usually vote in high numbers, politicians are not as interested in their viewpoints. This needs to change!
- There are more than 35 million voting age persons with disabilities. If people with disabilities voted in the same ratios as other groups did, their influence could change the results of elections.
- Have you ever felt you would do things differently, if you were in charge? You can. Take charge and vote. Maybe some day your name will appear on the ballot! When you vote, you voice your point of view. Let your voice be heard and MAKE YOUR VOTE COUNT!
