LaSalle Bank Case

While recent years have seen an explosion of cases about website accessibility, these issues have been important for some time. Equip for Equality resolved a case in 2005 with LaSalle Bank addressing issues of website accessibility.

LaSalle Bank Settlement Agreement

  • In 2005, Equip for Equality, with co-counsel Lainey Feingold, negotiated a settlement requiring the bank to install Talking ATMs for people who are blind
  • The settlement also required LaSalle Bank to address the accessibility of its website
  • The settlement requires LaSalle Bank to:
    • Use good faith efforts to comply with WCAG priorities
    • Raise awareness about web access
    • Publicize how users can bring concerns to Bank’s attention
    • Include web accessibility as a criteria for proposals and procurement documents involving third party content
    • Use web accessibility consultant to review online banking and provide report on compliance – bring into compliance if needed

See here for a copy of the agreement.
