Voting Access Chicago is an exciting initiative of Equip for Equality, Illinois’ Disability Rights Organization, in partnership with the Chicago Board of Election Commissioners and Chicago’s leading corporations, law firms, and institutions of higher education.

We started our work November 2016 and need your help to ensure that all polling places are accessible. We will be surveying polling places during the 2018 and subsequent elections to ensure that recommended fixes to polling places have been made and that by 2020 all polling places are fully accessible.

Our goal is simple: ensure that Chicago’s 460,000 older adults and people with disabilities are able to vote at their local polling places—like everyone else! This project will make the promise of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the Help America Vote Act a reality by ensuring everyone can vote privately and independently. Together we can make a difference!

Volunteer to perform ADA surveys at polling places at upcoming elections (March and November of 2018). For more information or to find out about trainings and/or to schedule an on-site training please contact tracyh@equipforequality.org or 312-895-7208.

Training Dates

We need 300 volunteers to ensure that Chicago’s 1,800 polling places are ADA accessible for 460,000 voters with disabilities and older adults. Please join us in our joint initiative with the Chicago Board of Election Commissioners to make this a reality.

To sign up for one of the mandatory trainings, please RSVP three (3) business days prior to the training to tracyh@equipforequality.org or 312-895-7208.
